Bălcești is a town located in Vâlcea County, Romania. It is situated within the historical region of Oltenia at the southwestern limit of the county, where it borders both Dolj and Olt counties.
The town serves as an administrative center for eight surrounding villages: Benești, Cârlogani, Gorunești, Chirculești, Irimești, Otetelișu, Preoțești, and Satu Poieni.
