Comănești is a town located in Bacău County within the Western Moldavia region of Romania. As of 2021, the municipality has a population of 19,996 residents.
The town is situated on the Trotuș River, which flows between the Ciuc and Tarcău mountains. Approximately 10 kilometers of the river's course pass directly through Comănești.
