Boita refers to the large boats and ships constructed in the ancient Kalinga region during its maritime history. These vessels were primarily utilized by the coastal regions of Odisha, which served as major trading ports.
The boitas were used by ancient Sadhabas to conduct trade with distant lands. Their voyages extended to Sri Lanka and various parts of Southeast Asia, including both mainland and insular regions.
