Gâlgău is a commune situated in Sălaj County within the Transylvania region of Romania. It serves as an administrative division composed of nine distinct villages, which include Bârsău Mare (Nagyborszó), Căpâlna (Csicsókápolna), Chizeni (Közfalu), Dobrocina (Döbörcsény), Fodora (Oláhfodorháza), Frâncenii de Piatră (Kőfrinkfalva), Gâlgău, Glod (Szamossósmező), and Gura Vlădesei (Vlegyászatanya).
As of the 2011 census, the total population of the commune was 2,456 residents. The area is characterized by its multi-village structure within the Transylvanian landscape.
