Sinaia is a town and mountain resort located in Prahova County, Romania. It is situated within the historical region of Muntenia.
The town was named after the Sinaia Monastery, which was established in 1695. The monastery derives its name from the Biblical Mount Sinai. A notable landmark in the area is Peleș Castle, a summer residence built by King Carol I of Romania during the late nineteenth century.
