Mizil is a town located in Prahova County within the Muntenia region of Romania. It is situated in the southeastern part of the county, positioned along the road connecting the cities of Ploiești and Buzău, and lies to the northeast of Bucharest.
Historically, Mizil became a thriving market town starting in the 18th century due to its geographic location. While agriculture was a primary activity, the town transitioned toward industry as the main source of employment during the Communist regime. In recent decades, the area has faced economic challenges following a period of deindustrialization that began in the late 1990s.
