Târgu Cărbunești is a town located in the Oltenia region of Romania. It is situated in the south-eastern part of Gorj County and has a recorded population of 7,616 as of 2021.
The town serves as an administrative center for ten surrounding villages: Blahnița de Jos, Cărbunești-Sat, Cojani, Crețești, Curteana, Floreșteni, Măceșu, Pojogeni, Rogojeni, and Ștefănești.
