Bușteni is a small mountain town located in the northern part of Prahova County within the Muntenia region of Romania. Situated in the Prahova Valley at the base of the Bucegi Mountains, the town sits near peaks reaching a maximum altitude of 2,505 meters (8,219 feet). The name "Bușteni" is derived from the Romanian word for tree-logs.
The town includes the village of Poiana Țapului, which was formerly an independent commune before being administratively incorporated into Bușteni in 1950. According to the 2021 census, the municipality has a population of 8,368 inhabitants.
