Negrești is a town situated in Vaslui County within the eastern part of Western Moldavia, a traditional region of Romania. According to the 2021 census, the municipality has a population of 7,530 residents.

The name of the town is derived from Negrea, a distinguished nobleman who served in the council of Alexander the Good. It remains a recognized settlement within the Romanian administrative landscape.
