Sovata is a town located in Mureș County within the Transylvania region of Romania. It serves as an administrative center for three surrounding villages: Căpeți (Kopac), Ilieși (Illyésmező), and Săcădat (Szakadát).
The town's administrative boundaries have changed over time; notably, the village of Sărățeni separated from Sovata in 2004 to establish itself as an independent commune.
