Sighișoara is a city located in Mureș County in central Romania, situated along the Târnava Mare River. It is positioned within the historic region of Transylvania and serves as an administrative center for seven surrounding villages: Angofa, Aurel Vlaicu, Hetiur, Rora, Șoromiclea, Venchi, and Viilor.
The city is a prominent tourist destination primarily recognized for its well-preserved old town. Due to its historical significance and architectural preservation, the area has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. According to the 2021 census, Sighișoara had a population of 23,927.
