Budești is a small provincial town located in Călărași County within the Muntenia region of Romania. The municipality serves as an administrative center for three surrounding villages: Aprozi, Buciumeni, and Gruiu.
The settlement officially attained its status as a town in 1989. This designation was a direct result of the Romanian rural systematization program, which reorganized local administrative structures during that period.
