Butea is a genus of flowering plants within the pea family, Fabaceae. The genus comprises several species that are primarily native to various regions across Asia, including the Indian Subcontinent, Indochina, Tibet, and southern China.
Taxonomic classifications of the genus vary among experts. While some classifications consider Butea to consist of only two species, namely B. monosperma and B. superba, other botanical definitions expand the genus to include four or five distinct species.
