Sudiți refers to a specific group of inhabitants within the Danubian Principalities. During the latter stage of the 18th century and throughout much of the 19th century, these individuals were subject to unique administrative arrangements under foreign oversight.
During and after the Phanariote period of rule, the Sudiți were placed under the protection of various foreign states. This status was typically granted as a reward for specific services or in exchange for payment.
