György Dózsa was a Székely man-at-arms from Transylvania, which was part of the Kingdom of Hungary during the reign of King Vladislaus II. He is primarily known for leading a significant peasants' revolt against the kingdom's landed nobility.
The rebellion led by Dózsa was eventually suppressed by the authorities. Following his capture, he was subjected to a violent execution involving torture; he was seated on a throne, crowned with red-hot iron, and devoured alive by his followers under duress before being quartered.
