Hunedoara is a city located in Hunedoara County within the Transylvania region of Romania. It is situated in southwestern Transylvania in close proximity to the Poiana Ruscă Mountains.
The city serves as an administrative center for five surrounding villages: Boș (Bós), Groș (Grós), Hășdat, Peștișu Mare (Alpestes), and Răcăștia (Rákosd).
