Baru is an extinct genus of Australian mekosuchine crocodilian, sometimes referred to as the cleaver-headed crocodile. Its fossils have been discovered in various localities across Queensland and the Northern Territory.
The genus was common during the late Paleogene and early Neogene periods, with fossil remains dating from Late Oligocene and Miocene localities. Three distinct species are currently recognized within this genus: B. darrowi, B. iylwenpeny, and B. wickeni.
