Aninoasa is a town located in Hunedoara County within the Transylvania region of Romania. It serves as the administrative center for one village, Iscroni (also known as Alsóbarbatyeniszkrony).
The town is situated in the Jiu Valley, which functions as a significant coal basin. Due to this geographical location, many of the residents of Aninoasa are employed as coal miners. Aninoasa officially attained its status as a town in 1989 following the Romanian rural systematization program.
