Racu is a commune located in Harghita County within the Transylvania region of Romania. The administrative area consists of two distinct villages: Racu and Gârciu (also known as Göröcsfalva). From 1964 until 2011, the village of Gârciu was officially referred to by the name Satu Nou.
The commune was established in 2004 following a separation from the former Siculeni commune. It serves as a local administrative unit for these two neighboring settlements.
