Gheorgheni is a city located in Harghita County, Romania. It serves as an administrative center for four surrounding villages: Covacipeter (Kovácspéter), Lacu Roșu (Gyilkostó), Vargatac (Vargatag), and Visafolio (Visszafolyó).
The city is situated within the Székely Land, which is an ethno-cultural region in eastern Transylvania. As of 2021, the population of Gheorgheni was recorded at 15,844.
