Târgu Cărbunești is a town located in Gorj County within the Oltenia region of Romania. As of 2021, the municipality has a population of 7,616 residents.
Situated in the south-eastern part of the county, the town serves as an administrative center for ten surrounding villages: Blahnița de Jos, Cărbunești-Sat, Cojani, Crețești, Curteana, Floreșteni, Măceșu, Pojogeni, Rogojeni, and Ștefănești.
