Bumbești-Jiu is a town located in Gorj County within the Oltenia region of Romania. Situated along the river Jiu, it serves as an administrative center for four surrounding villages: Curtișoara, Lăzărești, Pleșa, and Tetila.
The settlement officially attained its status as a town in 1989. This designation was granted as a result of the Romanian rural systematization program.
