Catane is a commune located in Dolj County within the Oltenia region of Romania. It currently has a population of approximately 2,010 people and consists of two distinct villages: Catane and Catanele Noi.
The administrative area was established in 2004 when it was split off from the former Negoi Commune. Since its separation, it has functioned as an independent local government entity.
