Gherla is a municipality located in Cluj County, Romania. It is situated on the river Someșul Mic, approximately 45 kilometres (28 mi) from the city of Cluj-Napoca.
As of 2021, the city has a population of 19,873. The municipality also administers three villages: Băița, Hășdate (Szamoshesdát), and Silivaș (Vizszilvás).
