Dej is a municipality located in the Transylvania region of Romania. It is situated in Cluj County, approximately 60 kilometres north of the city of Cluj-Napoca.
The city is geographically positioned at the confluence of the Someșul Mic and Someșul Mare rivers. Administratively, Dej oversees four villages: Ocna Dejului (Désakna), Peștera (Pestes), Pintic (Oláhpéntek), and Șomcutu Mic (Kissomkút).
