Vernești is a commune located in Buzău County within the Muntenia region of Romania. It is situated just to the north-west of the county capital, Buzău, along the national road DN10, which serves as a primary link between Buzău and Brașov.
The commune is composed of eleven distinct villages: Brădeanca, Cândești, Cârlomănești, Mierea, Nenciu, Nișcov, Săsenii Noi, Săsenii Vale, Săsenii Vechi, Vernești, and Zorești.
