Scorțaru Nou is a commune situated in Brăila County within the Muntenia region of Romania. The administrative area is currently composed of four distinct villages: Gurguieți, Pitulați, Scorțaru Nou, and Sihleanu.
Historically, the commune's boundaries were larger as they formerly included the villages of Deșirați and Nicolae Bălcescu. These two locations are now considered depopulated.
