Însurăței is a town situated in Brăila County within the Muntenia region of Romania. It serves as the administrative center for three surrounding villages: Lacu Rezii, Măru Roșu, and Valea Călmățuiului.
The settlement officially attained town status in 1989 following the Romanian rural systematization program. One notable historical characteristic of the area is the village of Valea Călmățuiului, which was known as Rubla during the Communist era and served as a residence for political offenders.
