Dimăcheni is a commune located in Botoșani County within the Western Moldavia region of Romania. The administrative area consists of three distinct villages: Dimăcheni, Mateieni, and Recia-Verbia.
The commune is situated along a historically significant route that once connected the fortresses of Hotin and Suceava. Specifically, the village of Verbia served as the site for two major battles in Moldavian history. These conflicts include the clash between Iacob Heraclid and Alexandru Lăpușneanu in November 1561, and Michael the Brave's victory over Ieremia Movilă in May 1600.
