Botoșani is the capital city of Botoșani County, located in the northern region of Moldavia in Romania.
The city is historically significant as the birthplace of several prominent Romanian figures, most notably the poet Mihai Eminescu, the historian Nicolae Iorga, and the scientist Grigore Antipa.
