Trajan was a Roman emperor who ruled from AD 98 to 117. He is historically recognized as the second of the Five Good Emperors within the Nerva–Antonine dynasty and was granted the title of optimus princeps by the Roman Senate.
He is remembered as a philanthropic ruler and a successful soldier-emperor. Trajan presided over one of the most significant military expansions in Roman history, leading to the Roman Empire reaching its maximum territorial extent by the time of his death.
