Horea is a city located in Romania. It serves as a geographical location within the country's regional landscape.
The name Horea is also associated with Vasile Ursu Nicola, a Transylvanian peasant who became a prominent figure in Romanian history. He is best known for leading a two-month-long peasant rebellion that commenced in late 1784 in the villages of Curechiu and Mesteacăn within the Metaliferi Mountains. This uprising, recognized as the Revolt of Horea, Cloșca and Crișan, was conducted alongside Ion Oarga and Marcu Giurgiu.
