La Renaissance is a city located in Reunion. However, it is important to distinguish this location from the namesake national anthem of the Central African Republic.
The anthem "La Renaissance" was adopted on May 25, 1960, prior to the independence of the Central African Republic on August 13 of that year. The lyrics were authored by Barthélémy Boganda, who served as Prime Minister at the time, while the music was composed by French composer Herbert Pepper. Pepper is also known for composing "Le Lion rouge," the national anthem of Senegal.
Historically, the song served as the national anthem during the period of the Central African Empire from 1976 to 1979.
