Al Wakrah is the capital city of the Al Wakrah Municipality in Qatar. Located on the eastern edge of the country, its coastline borders the Persian Gulf. The city is situated immediately south of Doha, which serves as the nation's capital.
Originally established as a small village centered on fishing and pearling, Al Wakrah has evolved into one of Qatar's most populous cities with a population exceeding 80,000 residents. It is currently governed by Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
