Al Rayyan is the third-largest municipality located in Qatar. Its primary settlement is the city of Al Rayyan, which occupies the entire eastern section of the region and serves as a component of the Doha Metropolitan Area.
The municipality's administrative boundaries also encompass a vast expanse of mostly undeveloped lands situated to the south-west. While it functions as a significant urban area within the metropolitan framework, it retains large areas of open land under its jurisdiction.
