Filadelfia is the capital city of the Boquerón Department, located in the Gran Chaco region of western Paraguay. It is situated approximately 450 kilometres (280 mi) northwest of the national capital, Asunción.
The city serves as the center of the Fernheim Colony and has a population of about 20,000 residents. It is the largest town within a 400-kilometre radius and accounts for nearly one-third of the total population of its department.
