Zambujal

Portugal

Zambujal is a city located in Portugal. It serves as the geographic context for the Castro of Zambujal, an archaeological site situated in the municipality of Torres Vedras within the western litoral area of the Centro Region.

The Castro of Zambujal is recognized as one of the most significant Copper Age settlements on the Lisbon peninsula. Its culture persisted until the onset of the agrarian periods in Iberian history. Notably, it is the northernmost discovered Copper Age site in Portugal and underwent two primary construction phases: an import-oriented phase and a second phase associated with the Beaker culture.
