Vila Pouca de Aguiar is a town and municipality located in the Vila Real district of northern Portugal. The municipality covers an area of 437.07 square kilometres and is situated between the Serra do Alvão and Serra da Padrela mountains. As of 2024, the municipality had a population of 11,819 people, while the town itself recorded a population of 3,118 in 2021.
The region is characterized by its agricultural landscape, granite extraction industries, and the mineral waters of Pedras Salgadas. Human settlement in the area dates back to prehistoric times, with archaeological remains from both the Chalcolithic and Roman periods. Notable historical sites include the gold mines located at Tresminas and Jales.
