Monção is a town and municipality located in the Alto Minho subregion of Portugal. It is situated on the southern bank of the Minho River, which functions as the natural border between Portugal and Spain.
The town sits directly across the river from the Spanish town of Salvaterra de Miño, forming the Monção–Salvaterra de Miño Eurocity. As of 2011, the municipality had a population of 19,230 and covered an area of 211.31 km2.
