Abrantes

Abrantes is a municipality located in the central Médio Tejo subregion of Portugal. The municipality covers an area of 714.69 square kilometres and had a recorded population of 39,325 as of 2011.

The geography of the municipality is defined by the Tagus River, which flows through its center and divides several parishes. The primary urbanized area is the parish of Abrantes e Alferrarede, situated on the north bank of the river, which houses approximately 17,000 residents.
