Albufeira, officially known as the City of Albufeira, is a city and municipality located in the Faro District within the Algarve region of southern Portugal. It covers an area of 140.66 square kilometres and had a population of 44,158 in 2021, with the city proper accounting for 28,645 residents.
The city is situated approximately 250 kilometres from Lisbon and is located near Paderne Castle. It lies roughly 30 kilometres east of Lagoa and 45 kilometres northwest of Faro.
Albufeira is a prominent tourist destination characterized by its coastal conditions. During the summer months and over the Christmas and New Year holidays, the population expands to approximately 300,000 people. The area features numerous hotels equipped with marina facilities, golf courses, restaurants, and bars.
