Coimbra, officially known as the City of Coimbra, is a city and municipality located in Portugal. It serves as the largest city within both the district of Coimbra and the Central Region.
As of the 2021 census, the population of the municipality was 140,796, covering an area of 319.40 square kilometres. The city is the fourth-largest metropolitan area in Portugal, following Lisbon, Porto, and Braga. Its broader intermunicipal community has a population of approximately 460,000 people.
