São João da Madeira, officially known as the City of São João da Madeira, is a city and municipality located in the northwestern region of the Norte region in Portugal. It is situated within the Porto Metropolitan Area, approximately 30 km from central Porto.

The municipality covers an area of 7.94 km2, making it the smallest municipality in Portugal. As of the 2011 census, its population was 21,713. In 2010, the city was recognized in Portuguese quality of life studies as the "Best Municipality to Live In."
