Bethlehem is a city located in the West Bank of the Palestinian Territory. It serves as the capital of the Bethlehem Governorate and is situated approximately ten kilometres south of Jerusalem. As of 2017, the city had a recorded population of 28,591 people.
The local economy is heavily influenced by tourism, particularly during the Christmas season. This period sees a significant influx of Christian pilgrims who visit the Church of the Nativity, a site revered as the birthplace of Jesus.
