Beit Jala is a Palestinian Christian town situated in the Bethlehem Governorate of the West Bank. It is located at an altitude of 825 meters (2,707 ft), approximately 10 km (6.2 mi) south of Jerusalem. The town sits on the western side of the Hebron road, positioned directly opposite Bethlehem.
According to data from the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics in 2017, the town had a population of 13,484 inhabitants. The demographic composition of Beit Jala consists of approximately 80% Christians and 20% Muslims.
