Beit Hanun is a destroyed and depopulated Palestinian city situated on the northeast edge of the Gaza Strip. Located near the Nahal-Hanun stream, the area lies approximately 6 kilometers (3.7 mi) from the Israeli city of Sderot.
According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the town had a population of 52,237 in 2017. The region has been militarily contested between Israel and the Hamas administration as a result of the ongoing Gaza war.
