Tarnowskie Góry is a city located in the Silesia region of southern Poland. It is situated within the Silesian Highlands near Katowice and serves as the seat city of Tarnowskie Góry County. The city is positioned in the northern part of the Metropolis GZM, which is a megalopolis known as the greater Katowice-Ostrava metropolitan area.
As of 2021, the population of Tarnowskie Góry is 61,842, making it one of the largest towns in Poland. Administratively, the city has been part of the Silesian Voivodeship since 1999, having previously belonged to the Katowice Voivodeship.
