Rybnik is a city located in southern Poland within the Silesian Voivodeship. It is situated approximately 38 km southwest of Katowice, the capital of the region, and about 19 km from the Czech border. The city serves as a major component of the Katowice-Ostrava metropolitan area.
Rybnik is the primary city of the Subregion Zachodni, which was formerly known as the Rybnik Coal Area. As of December 31, 2025, the city has a population of 122,026 inhabitants.
