Jaworzno is a city county located in southern Poland within the Silesian Voivodeship. Situated near Katowice, the city lies in the Silesian Highlands along the Przemsza river. While it has been part of the Silesian Voivodeship since 1999, Jaworzno belongs to Lesser Poland and is not considered part of Silesia.
The city serves as a component of the Katowice urban area, which is part of a larger conurbation of approximately 2.7 million people. It is also situated within the broader Katowice-Ostrava metropolitan area, which has a population of about 5,294,000. As of 2021, the population of Jaworzno was 89,350.
