Sopot is a seaside resort city located in northern Poland within the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Situated on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea, it lies between the larger cities of Gdańsk to the southeast and Gdynia to the northwest. Together, these three cities constitute the Tricity metropolitan area.

The city has a population of approximately 30,000 residents. Notably, Sopot holds the status of a county, making it the smallest city in Poland to possess this specific administrative designation.
